Introduction:                

        Within the framework of our module “seminars and presentations”, the Tunisia Polytechnic School organized a seminar on the 21th of November 2019 conducted the director of the British Council in Tunisia Mr. Robert NESS. The subject was entitled “xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxx” discussing the reasons that make the BREXIT considered as a disaster for the UK, the ideas that push some kind of people to be in favor of the British Exit and the differences between England and Scotland.

        Before getting into the topic and to capture the people’s attention, the speaker started by asking the audience some questions about the student’s age, travelling, the United Kingdom (population, the percentage of white people, the union date of Scotland-England). Then, he started talking about the main topic.

Why BREXIT will be a problem for the UK?

        The British Exit will be a disaster for the United Kingdom for many reasons. To start with, the BREXIT means the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. As a result, the other European countries will make a border between the UK and them so it will not be easy for British people to move from the UK to the other European countries.

Moreover, the EU is the largest trading partner for the UK: almost the half of UK exports goes to the other EU countries. So, the BREXIT means that the UK will have a challenge to make an individual trade agreement for all the EU countries instead of operating like one of 27 powerful countries.

 Why the British people want the BREXIT?

        Some people, especially old people, who are in favor of BREXIT and leaving the EU give a lot of reasons for their point of view such as:

• They are a kind of people who are closed
• They want to close the borders
• They don’t want any more immigrations to their country
• They want to take back control of their laws
• The EU is costing the UK a lot of money

Why the European Union was created?

        The European Union is set up with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbors, which culminated in the Second World War.

Scotland VS England:

        Scottish people are very advantageous compared to English people. In fact, if you are studying in England, you must pay a big amount of fees for the universities to pursue your studies. And even though you’re not able to pay that amount, they will give you a loan that you must pay it the day when you make a salary.

Also, the health care and a lot of other public services are free in Scotland but it’s not the case for England.
