We will start by introducing you to the commonwealth, then we will continue with its history, and we will finish by telling you about the relations between the member countries, the United Kingdom and the English crown.
3.What is the Commonwealth
The Commonwealth is a voluntary organization of 56 states adhering to a charter called the Commonwealth Charter. This charter recognizes that all member states are free and equal partners and share a common language, history, culture and values. These common values include equality, non-discrimination, democracy, and the rule of law. It also is an economic organization in which countries from different economic backgrounds can interact closely and equally.
Of the 56 member countries, 16 are monarchies such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand... thirty-two are republics, such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. Also, five members are kingdoms with their own monarchs
In total, the commonwealth has 2.4 billion people, half of whom live in India.

The king of the United Kingdom has been the head of the organization since 1926. The commonwealth is the life's work of queen Elizabeth the second. the monarch of The United Kingdom is still the head of some of the former colonies. Sixteen members of the Commonwealth recognize the Queen as their Head of State. Like for example Canada, Australia, or Papua New Guinea.
