I am going to explain the notion of Myths and Heroes. First of all , i would like to give a definition of the notion. A myth is a traditional story concerning the early history of a people or explaining a natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events. A hero , in mythology and folklore, is a person of superhuman qualities who is admired for his courage or outstanding achievements. He can be someone who is ready to make sacrifices or sacrifice her life in order to make thing positively. In order, to illustrate this notion, I have chosen to talk about successful careers that is to say people who started from scratch and reach the top of the social ladder and attempt to answer this question How myths and heroes can influence people and can change their life ? To answer this question I will present three documents.

First , I will explain the quotation of Abraham Lincoln and especially the picture of Bill Gates for illustrate this quotation. Then , I will present Oprah Winfrey and her mythical career. Finally, I will present Steve Jobs and his technology impact in the world.

The first document I have chosen is a quotation of Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) « Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing » and especially the bill Gates’s picture. This quotation shows us that self determination and confidence allows us to reach our goal and to make our dream come true. It means that everybody know deep inside what success they believe in and people have to do everything to make it happen. The career of Bill Gates illustrates this quotation. He was a mere programmer and became the own of one of the best companies in the world. His career best embodies success and is impressionnant and is an example for people who are starting from scratch and want to reach their goal. So the quotation and the career of Bill Gates influence people’ careers.

The second document i have chosen is a text called Oprah Winfrey’s influence in America and was taken from website onlinesays.com . He talk about a successful woman , Oprah Winfrey. Indeed ,she is a woman who comes from a poor family ,

from the lower class but she is now one of the most influential and popular woman in America. She overcame the obstacles to be an emblem for the USA and her influence is indisputable. She represents the American dream for people and more precisely for African Americans because she got to the top despite the difficulties, she had to face up. Winfrey embodies strong will tenacity, success, glory, heroism and hope for the other. She is a hero because she achieves something and tries to make people’s life better. So, Oprah Winfrey positively influences millions of people as they immediately follow the advice of Winfrey.

Finally, the third document I have chosen is a texte called ​The New York Times a​ nd was written by Randall Stross. This text talk about Steve Jobs and his impact technology in the world. Steve Jobs was an inventor , he had improved and advanced computers. he wasn't fascinated by computing but he was rather creative and imaginative with and enormous ambition that is why he became the creator of Apple. Jobs managed to achieve what he had planned but not only did he design his product but he also managed to manufacture and market it.
