First I'm going to speak about geography : (Je vais d'abord parler de la géographie)
Route 66 (also known as Main Street of America or the Mother Road) is the highway which became one of the most famous roads in America.
Originally, it ran from Chicago, Illinois, Missiroui, Kensas, Oklahoma, Texas, New-Mexico, Arizona and California, before ending at Los Angeles, covering a total of 2,278 miles be 3666 kilometer. Driving along we can see many places notably, Mojave Desert, Petrified forest and Grand Canyon.
Now, I'd like to tell you about history : (Maintenant, je voudrais vous parler de l'histoire)
On November the eleventh 1926, Route 66 was created. In the 1950s President Dwight Eisenhower decided to have big highways build in the USA. Thanks to his experience in Germany where he saw the German road system, Eisenhower wanted to copy. Route 66 became the main highway for vacationers. This tourism gave rise to a trade of road side attraction, like motels. It also marked the birth of the fast-food industry.
And lastly I will talk about the meaning of Route 66 for Americans : (Et enfin, je vais parler de la signification de la Route 66 pour les Américain)
For Americans, Route 66 symbolises adventure and freedom. Driving on Route 66 is a means to escape, to forget the world around us. It must be a memorable experience, we discover a multiple landscape and we can meet people.

I selected this theme because i realy like Route 66. This route has always intrigued me. And since I already went there and liked it, I wanted to introduce it
