WAR HORSE

Directed by Steven Spielberg, War Horse is based on a Novel written by Micheal Merpurgo in 1982. It stars Jeremy Irvine as the main human character Albert Narracott from Devon a small village in England, but the real main character is a stunning horse whose name is Joey. This 2011 movie brings tears, happiness and compassion to all of its watchers. War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between Joey and Albert. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets. Based on The First World War, the war is experienced through the journey of this horse, but the film is manly based on the passionate friendship between the boy and his horse.

It is the best war film I have ever seen for many reasons. Firstly I liked the fact that the hero of the movie, more precisely the war hero, is not a typical British soldier, but a horse. Is it true that in most war films the hero is the man who has won the war by killing as many people as necessary. Here it is a magnificent mustang. Secondly, I adore the aspect that throughout the movie, we get to see all the different parts of the war. Indeed, the movie shows that the whole country is implicated in the war. There are a few shocking scenes throughout the film. It is horrible to see all those horses killed. It showed how terrible the First World War was, all the terrible things that happened during the four years the country was at war. It is also horrible how the soldiers are used as simple killing machines: when the whistle blows they have to run out of the trenches or else they will be shot.

My favorite part of the film is at the end, when the young man who has lost hope in every thing, hears his beloved, loyal, handsome, headstrong horse Joey and gets him back. From that moment the film is a tsunami of emotions.

War Horse has a high moral purpose and is not a documentary. Audiences will either be overwhelmed by the impact or find themselves fighting to resist it.

Not only is it my favorite war film, but also is one of the best films I have ever seen. It combines the love between a man and his horse as well as the horror of war. I sincerely recommend this film.
