I’m going to talk about the notion of Spaces and Exchanges. Space has different definitions: symbolic space, real space, virtual space and dream space.

Today it is seen that, despite differences in development, countries have created close ties. The border as the limit between two spaces can be seen as a protection against others or, on the contrary, an opening or a call to a wider space. Influence and exchanges can be perceived in the cultural, scientific, technological, philosophical, religious, political and social spheres.

Problematic:

CAN THE AMERICAN DREAM BE REACHED BY IMMIGRANTS?

Plan:

6- American dreams + pouvoir d’achat

A- Motivation American dream

First, immigrants want to go to the US for different reasons like economic reasons. In Ana’s case, an undocumented woman who took a job in Manhattan folding and delivering clothes for a laundry, 12 hours a day, six days a week, for 200 dollars a week in cash. It is eight times what she earned in a sock factory in Mexico. She embodies the American dream, because she had succeed where others had failed. Ana can offer gifts to her children and her family. If Ana success her life, she struggled to have it.

Then = puis

B- Difficult de passer la frontier

Second, immigrating to the United States or crossing the border can be done in different ways, even in very dangerous conditions. Ana cross the border through drainpipe but others immigrants cross the land border despite the wall made by the president Donald Trump. It is a very dangerous travel because some of the smugglers abuse the trust of immigrants: they take their money and they leave them to die.

C- Integration and its consequence

Last but not least, there are a lot of consequences of immigration whether in host country or country of origin. In the host country, it is more difficult to get a job and home for the undocumented people because they are overexploited by their employers. In the country of origin, it is difficult for families because they get richer and provoke envy from neighbors, however some people become legal for example the one who benefit from Obama’s 2012 deportation amnesty policy.

Ccl : THE AMERICA N DREAM can BE REACHED BY some IMMIGRANTS but they aren’t many. Because a lot of them died, struggle to work or are expulsed.
