Spaces and Exchanges
I’m going to talk about the notion of spaces and exchanges. This notion deals with the geographical and symbolic areas all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. The different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have shaped and characterised our modern-day world. To illustrate the notion, I have chosen to talk about the globalisation and try to answer the question “What impacts does globalisation have on world society ?”
The document I have chosen to present is a video about the globalisation which we saw in class. First of all, I’m going to give a definition of the globalization. The globalization means that people and countries can exchange information and goods more quickly and in a less complicated way thanks to new technologies.
Firstly, we are going to see the positive impacts of the globalisation. The globalisation allows exchanges between countries, several firms are in competition what brings down prices, products become accessible for more persons. The globalisation allows the discovery of other cultures thanks to books, or to Internet for example. She favours tourism thanks to the means of transport quicker. The globalisation allows to create jobs in developing countries.
Then, we are going to see the negative impacts of the globalisation. The globalisation is bad for environment, to create new industries it is necessary to destroy forest, and industries contaminate what favours climatic warming. Industries are delocalized in developing countries to pay less what to create unemployment in the developed countries.
To conclude, we can say that the globalisation can have positive and negative impacts on environment, jobs, or culture. I think that the globalisation is neither good or bad it depends how people use new technologies.
