SEATS & FORMS OF POWER

Today I am going to talk about the notion of Seats and Forms of power. First of all I want to give a definition of every keyword. “Seats” could be important buildings or institutions which represent a certain form of power or a symbol of power.The “power” is the ability or official capacity to exercise control,authority.It can be also a person,a group or a nation having great influence or control over others. There can be good or bad types of power and in this notion there are a division between people who have power and people who suffer the power,which are controlled or influenced. To illustrate the notion we talked about the frears and more precisely about the american fears. So, we can ask ourselves, what are the abuses of power and their effects?

First of all, I will recall a little bit of history for a better understanding of the context.

The fear has been greatly present in the United States since 1950. In this century, there was the « Red Scare » who is a form of abuse of power. The Red Scare is the scare about the communism in the USA. This term is very used to refers to two periods in the history of the United States of America. The first Red Scare has begun after the World War I and the second occured after the World War II. This is a widespread fear of communist infiltration in the US government.

There have been propaganda campaigns like a video « Ducks and Covers ». In this video, a turtle explains to Americans what to do in case of an explosion of an atomic bomb. It installs even more fear in Americans.

Today, Trump is using fear in this campaign. For him, Americans are not safe, something bad is happening, something dangerous is going on. He installs fear by talking of undocumented immigrants like Mexicans peoples bringing drugs and crimes. He talks about terrorist infiltrating Syrians refugees. According to him, the option and solutions that is available to them are stop down Muslim entry in the US, and be nasty, strong. He punches on the dramas, uses shocking declarations and dark imagery and uses exaggerations.

Finally, we can say that weapons represents another fear of Americans people. There are 90 guns for every 100 Americans. Thirty thousand (30.000) guns deaths and 20 instances of mass murder using guns took places in the US.

Before the gun control, everyone had a gun. After, only criminals held one so, law abiding citizen become targets of crimes.

All of this things represents the abuses and the effects of the fear in the US.
