King Arthur

        According to the legend, Arthur was concieved, by Uther Pendragon and Igraine, at Tintagel Castle. Right after his birth, Arthur was taken away from Tintagel by Merlin the Enchanter, brought to Sir Ector and raised ignorant of his real heritage.

        When Arthur was a young man, Merlin went to London to visit the Archbishop, with the aim of findind the new king. So then, they called the knights to London and secretively put a mysterious sword in a large stone. On the stone was written « Only the King can take the sword out from the stone », so all the knights tried but all failed. The Archbishop organized a big fight. Arthur came and accidently pulled the sword out. After that, he became king and married Guinevere. As wedding gift, the received a huge round table that symbolised equality, unity and chivalry. All the knights have been sitting at this table once a year to share their adventures, such as Lancelot, Perceval and Galahad, in search for the Holy Grail.

        To help him rule the country, Arthur was given a magic sword, called Excalibur, by the Lady of the Lake. It had helped him in many fights. For instance the one against Mordred, his illegitimate son : this fight was caused by Morded when he was plotting against Arthur to become king.  After this fight, Excalibur was taken to the lake and drawn under by the Lady of the Lake.

        Arthur was later taken away to the Isle of Avalon, where he died of his wounds.
