Priscilla Queen of the desert

On the poster, three people are in the middle of the desert on a sunny day. They are dressed as if they are going to a parade. The first person on the left, is wearing a red skirt with a bra. The person on the middle have a long blue dress, and the third person on the right, is wearing a white skirt. The three persons have a very big hat made with bird’s feathers. We think the three people are girls but we have a doubt because their muscles are a little bit too developed.

At the background on the right of the road, there is a big grey car. The title is highlighted by the colours used and its size. It suggests that the adventure takes place in the desert, and that one of the people is the “queen of the desert”.

The Trailer

The first men is a cabaret dancer who accepts an offer to perform his drag act in a Casino managed by a female friend in Alice Springs, a town in central Australia on the center of the outback. After persuading his friends and fellow performers, they named the bus of their travel “Priscilla queen of the desert”. At the middle of the travel the first men tells that he’s married and he is going there to see his children. We can see on the trailer two travestites and a gay.  A travestite is a person, especially a male, who assumes the dress and manner usually associated with the opposite sex. So there are many differences with the poster, the three peoples are not a troop of circus and there are not three girls. We can deduce that “Priscilla queen of the desert” is a road-movie because it’s essentially based on the description of a travel in bus.

This movie have a story without a real sens, with travestites, bus and desert in the center of the ubtack in Australia. The theme is cleary uninteresting. The trailer don’t let place to suspense, the actor don’t looks like super and the movie is clearly twisted so I think this movie is not destinate to the youngest people because some scenes are really vulgar.

“Priscilla queen of the desert” has a link with the notion of “spaces and exchanges” because the movie talks about a trip from Sydney to Alice Springs so it allows us to discover different landscapes of Australia.
