1  Present the notion

Power is a source of political, social and personal reflection and often revealing of the tensions and conflicts that are to be found in social groups. Power is exercised through various complex relations either imposed or accepted, often interiorized. Power implies also opposition: how is power limited and how is it resisted? This notion can be addressed, for example, from the following angles:

    - emblematic institutions of power

    - the power of media

    - the lust for power and resistance to power

    - power and conquest

    - power and the arts

    - language and power

2 present the documents

We have studied three documents related to the notion.

The first document studied is a visual document, it is a replica of Monet "Les nénuphars" by Banksy, a controversial artist. It has been painted on a oil canvas in 2005 with exactly the same colors than the original. This document shows nature polluted by the humans who and have destroyed the beauty of the landscape to impose their culture on the planet.

The second is newspaper article written by Jeanne McIntosh on October 17th 2013. This article deals with the graffiti artist Banksy, who has started to paint on the New York city walls. The document mention the reactions of people , citizens, politicians and the police about the art of Banksy.

The third is a visual document too, a cartoon in colours designed by Osval and extracted from the website Cartoon Movement in 2016. This document portrays a little boy trying to catch book instead of guns near of him. The authors drew to sensibilize people about the danger of the easy acces of the guns and an american flag on the picture shows the criticism of this country because its the mightiest seats of power in the world.

3 Link the document to the notion and link between the document

For me, the first document "Show me the Monet" is linked to the notion Seats and forms of power because the artist, by his notoriety has the power to send messages to people. Art is a form of power because he can change the mentalities and make people act. The fact that Banksy went anonymously to an art gallery and put it on the wall then people discovered this so called unknown artist shows a seat of power, it give a different view of the critic and a different type of people for mention their opinions.

The second, on titled "how New York City erased Banksy" Banksy his performing a work somewhere he should not and then he mocks the law by constantly defying and challenging the authorities, the artist opposes this form of power through  his art. Finally, the fact that he paint in the street, make his work support by so much people.

The cartoon "Guns us books" also called easy access recall the notion Seats and Forms of Power by denouncing the power of guns and the dangers of the fact that having a gun in our family, particularly in America where the culture of guns is more prevalent than sheer culture.

Also, the three documents are linked between because they all criticize or promote one form an one seat of power. through art, or by an article, in general by a peaceful form of expression, they have the power to give their opinion and make things changes, in society and in  people mentalities.

4 Say what you have learnt thanks to the notion

This notion has taught me so much about the seats and forms of power.

First, the impact of the art as political power, in fact, i've learn that art can change some aspects of the current society by changing the ideas of people. Also, the seat where the art is show is really important for : the type of people trigger, and the fame wanted for it.
