My notions are Myths and Heroes. A myth is a story that may or may not be true. It involves supernatural beings or events. A hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. It can also be the main character in a book or in a film.
So, I’d like to ask myself: Does it require exceptional qualities to be a hero, or can anyone be just considered as such one day?
To answer this question, I’ll be using different documents.
Firstly, In the ancient Greek and Roman myths, the word « hero » was used to call a demigod. These demigods were born with exceptional qualities such as immortality or strength. You can take the exemple of Hercules. Hercules was called a hero because he was born as a demigod with exceptional strength, he’s especially known for his twelve labors.
But on second thought, in our modern day world, you can be considered as a hero if your acts are considered as noble, who you are doesn’t matter.
Furthermore, different people have different heroes whom they look up to or try to emulate. However, whoever they may be, sport stars, TV stars or businessman, these people have not exceptional qualities most of all have worked hard to earn their position.
To conclude, nowadays, someone doesn’t necessarily need to have exceptional qualities to be considered as a hero. A hero is not born, he is self-made. We all do possess virtues and we all can be a hero to someone.
