Myths & Heroes : what is a modern-day/contemporary hero?

First of all, I would like to give a definition of Myths & Heroes :

-> A myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a popular belief or a tradition.

->A hero can be a mythological figure, a person who is admired for his or her achievements, a superhero or maybe a sportman.

During this year, we studied several documents about the Myths & Heros and particulary some story about Jessie Owens, Aimee Mullins or Usain Bolt.

We can wonder what is a modern-day/contemporary hero? What impact do they have on our lives?

So i would like first like to concentrate on What is a mordern-day hero ? and then i will move on What impact do they have on our lives ?

In order to illustrate this notion, I have chosen two documents :

-> The first document is the introductory document, It shows a painting of Usain Bolt did by James Cochran, Its was made for celebrate the participation of Usain Bolt in the Olympic Games of London in 2012. The painter is trying to highlight this impressive event.

Because Usain bolt is in his thirties(30s). He is a simple Jamaican but he is also the best sprinter in the world in his category. Moreover is nickname is "Lightning Bolt" because he is really fast like fantasic superheroes.

We have also made a presentation of a champion we admire, and I choose Micheal Fred Phelps who is an Olympic Swimmer but also the most decorated Olympians of all time.

Its is a relevant illustration of the notion as it emphasizes what is the mordern day heroes, the sportman.

->The second document is named Overcoming Obstacles and speak about Aimee Mullins, We can see on this document two picture of her, one when she run and one when she does fashion shoots.

Aimee Mullins is a disabled woman, who have lost his 2 legs, but she is also a sportwoman and a role model for disabled people.

Aime Mullins wears prosthetic legs, she begin by running, and she flying around the world, representing her country and speaking events, and she be called for convention about prosthetic legs design. After that her was asked to walk the runways with supermodels.

So the history of Aimee Mullins, impact the live of people, even if they are disabled they can do great thing, so all humans can do great things if they followed their curiosities and exit their comfort zone.
Personnally, I think Aimee Mullins is awe-inspiring with his handicap and she commands admiration, she assumed her handicap when she speaks for representing the country. She sprints against non-amputees so she deserves to win against them.

Conclusion :

To conclude, I talked about Usain Bolt but also about Micheal Phelps, their are 2 modern heros. And after that i speak about the history of Aimee Mullins who impact mainly live of disabled people but also all people.

Personnally i agree with the idea that modern day heroes are the sportman and they impact our lives.
