According to cultures, a hero is a demi-god, a legendary character, an ideal, a superman or simply a courageous person. I have chosen, in connection with the Notion of Myths and Heroes, the following problem: Why are Heroes important to society?
On the one hand, Heroes allow us to dream thanks to the myth they represent.
For example, The Story of Peter Pan embodies everyone's dream of eternal youth and our fear of old age and death.
Thanks to the effects produced by literature, the iconic hero becomes fictional. The later era of great discoveries gave the world a new kind of hero: the adventurer, like Simbad the sailor, inspired by the myth of travel
Likewise, Marilyn Monroere represents the cult of youth, Romeo and Juliet represent the myth of eternal love, while Harry Potter illustrates the victory of love against darkness.
On the other hand, Heroes are models for Men, because of their capacities and their commitment to society
The still current popularity of Hollywood cinema characters in the vein of Robin des Boissemble signify that we want to believe in the fundamental goodness of Man and in his courage in order to eliminate injustices.
It may happen that the authorities or a marginal group use a mythical image such as Captain America or a legend like the Grall to encourage people to defend their cause or to join forces in a common quest.
While some Heroes like Lance Armstrong lose their popularity, time showing that they are less exceptional than they would like to appear, others prove themselves and continue to inspire people well after their death like Martin luther king, Militant non violate the civil rights of blacks in the United States, for peace and against poverty.
