I’m gonna talk about sport which take part of the notion myths and heroes. A hero can be a mythological figure, a person who is admired for his achievements, a superhero or an icon… Here, the sportsman is considering as a hero for his achievements. We’ve watched a video about Agnes Keleti. She is a Jewish gymnast from Hungary who did great feats. In 1944, she survived the invasion of Germany in Hungary with the help of Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who gave her a new identity. After this, her father and the rest of her family died in Auschwitz. Only her mother and her sister survived saved by Raoul Wallenberg too. After the WW2, she took part of the 1952 and 1956 Olympics Games. She won several medals, among five were gold in OG. She is a real model. To come back after all she’s been through she must have had a big motivation to come back stronger. As a sportswoman, Olympics Games are the achievement so this can be her motivation. She had to work very hard to come back after this. That’s why she is a human model for everyone, because everyone can practice sport. Despite this, some sportsman, to be better take drugs to enhance them physical strength and performances In class we’ve been talking about doping in sport with a cartoon drown by Rodrigo, a Portuguese cartoonist. The cartoon depicts a race which is disrupted by a giant syringe-shaped hole. The athletes guilty of doping are falling down. The image’s goal is to discourage aspiring athletes to cheat or use drugs it aims at reducing doping in sport. The International Olympics committee’s president agrees with this fight against drugs. Indeed he wants to do more tests and to increase chance to find athletes who use performances substances. The president is Franck Fredericks, he adds that test were done before and during the game. He’s committing himself to struggle against doping in sport.
