Love or Respect

Everyone pretends respect is the most important value and we have been taught respect since we were very little. Our parents always told us to respect our teachers and our grandparents and vice versa. However, nowadays respect is only shown to close people and often neglected when it comes to strangers. We are somehow asking for respect, but we are rarely “offering” it to people around us. Love is another story. There are many types of love: shown by parents and family, by friends or by “lovers”. The problem is love does not guarantee respect. You can love or be loved without showing or being shown respect, which is in my opinion, incomplete. Love without respect means little to me but even a person you can’t stand can and should respect you, without of course loving you. I consider respect a necessity in our society, whether we talk about elder people, close people or strangers. We should show respect no matter what, it is our duty in our society, and it is obviously our choice. Love is not a choice: you don’t choose your feelings and love is based on how you perceive that certain person and how she treats you.[pic 2]

I would rather be respected, whether that person loves me or not, I like being well treated and feeling like I deserve good, which is shown through respect. Loves doesn’t win every time ☺
