Jonathan Clegg

Jonathan Clegg, aussi connue sur le nom de Johnny Clegg ou encore Zoulou blanc est un auteur compositeur et aussi interprète sud-africain née le 7 Juin 1953 à Bacup près de Manchester au Royaume-Uni. Il a été le leader de plusieurs groupes aux chansons principalement axées sur la lutte contre l’apartheid. Johnny Clegg a appris à jouer à la guitare à l’âge de 15 ans avec Matonganazo Maila un musicien de rue qui ne parlait pas la même langue que lui. Malgré cette barrière il va apprendre à jouer de la musique zoulou. Il va alors commencer a écrit et jouer ces morceaux, il va alors rencontrer Sipho Mchunu un guitariste sud-africain et former un duo appeler Zucu qui va très vite devenir le groupe Juluka. Après quelque tournée avec ce groupe il va créer un autre groupe Savuka ou il va sortir son plus gros succès Asimbananga une chanson dédiée à Nelson Mandela, alors prisonnier sur l’île de Robben Island. De nos jours à 63 ans il vient de finir sa tourner mondial ‘’Human Tour’’

Jonathan Clegg, also known by the name of Johnny Clegg or Zoulou Blanc is a South African composer and interpreter born on June 7, 1953 in Bacup near Manchester in the United Kingdom. He was the leader of several groups to songs mainly focused on the fight against apartheid. Johnny Clegg learned to play guitar at the age of 15 with Matonganazo Maila a street musician who did not speak the same language as him. Despite this barrier, he learns to play Zulu music. He then begins writing and playing these tracks, he then meets Sipho Mchunu a South African guitarist and form a duo call Zucu who very quickly become the Juluka group. After some tour with this group it creates another group Savuka or it release its biggest success Asimbananga a song dedicated to Nelson Mandela, then prisoner on the island of Robben Island. Nowadays at 63 years he has just finished his world tour '' Human Tour ''
