Global Warming

This document is a photograph. It deals with global warming. We can see a piece of sea ice melting and sinking in the water because it has become too hot. A poor polar bear is desperately trying to hold on to it. He looks kind of scared and as though he doesn’t understand what is happening.

This is happening more and more commonly, the artic is melting down. This has an heavy effect on the polar bears, as you can see in that photo. And the humans are directly responsible. Because of all of the pollution we create daily, the climate is increasing constantly causing the melting of the polar ice. Indeed, on a daily basis, a majority of people take their cars, plug in hundreds of electronic devices, buy plastic bags, only to throw them away and buy another one the week after, don’t turn off the water while brushing their teeth and the list just goes on and on.

When we do those irresponsible things, we don’t think of what we’re actually doing. Most people don’t see polar bears losing their habitats when they turn on the heaters instead of just putting on a sweater. They just think of themselves because, truth be told, it’s just so much easier to throw everything away in one bin instead of wasting time to recycle. But we need to stop being selfish ! Stop thinking of your own little world and start seeing the bigger picture.

Is it really worth risking to end an entire species, just to avoid walking to the bakery down the road ? Because the habitat that polar bears depends on to survive is melting down. If nothing changes, two-thirds of all polar bears will be gone by 2050—and perhaps extinct in the wild by the end of the century.

Is it really worth risking our children’s health and quality of life by turning on the AC instead of just opening the windows ? Because the pollution makes it hard to breath in some places. It’s not nice literally breathing gasoline because of the massive amount of cars around you, is it ? It creates a lot of health issues and the worse it gets; the more people are going to get sick. Is that what you want for your child ?

Please, from now on, just think of everything that is suffering from global warming, and choose the ecologic option. Even if it does require more effort and even if it’s less convenient. But the planet and our future generations will thank you.
