the civil right movement is one of the most important part of african american history.

it started with the slavery at the XVIIth century . afican men, women and children were deported during the slave trade . they travelled on board slave ships in harsh conditions .they slep in narrow spaces and some of them got sick or died during the trip . Those were thrown in the water . Once they arivied in america they were bought by white masters and forced to work in large farms from sunrise to sunset and they never got paid for it . They lived in poor conditions and didn't have enough food to eat or cloths to wear .some people saw it that way and wanted to act , they were called abolitionist . they helped black to escape from the southen states where slavery was legal to the northen states were it was not . when the president Abraham Lilncoln took the power , he was against slavery so he wanted to abolish everywhere in America . the south was for slavery so the contested this choice . this situation created a civil war , the sessession war opposing the united states directid by the general grant to the confederate states directed the general lee. This war made a lot of victims and the southen states were defieted but slavery was still legal in the south . from slavery segregation was born .

segregation was a racist policy or practice against blacks . blacks didn't have the right to go to the same schools ,restaurants , toilets as withes. this discrimination took place everywhere. it was supported by laws like the jim craw laws
