Freddy Mercury

Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5(fifth), 1946 at Zanzibar City in Tanzania. His parents were accountant at the British Office of Zanzibar, they send him to his grandmother in India when he was 7 years. He went to Saint Peter School in quoted Bombay where he had good grades especially on sport and music. The director of school advises his parents to register him on a music school. He learns the piano and assimilates it fast. He joins this first music group “The Hectics” with whom he will make this first show. It at this moment that he took the nickname of Freddie, even his parents used it quickly. On 1962 he continue this studies at St Mary’s High School where his group’s still happening on stage.

In 1964, he returns with his parents to Zanzibar but they will not stay long time because the revolution of Zanzibar force them to take refuge in England.

Arrived there, he followed art studies that will serve him later to create the Queen logo.

At the end of this studies, he integrates Ibex, a young group of Liverpool and made his first performance as a singer. Later he get in another group, Sour Milk Sea with whom pass an audition. But it was not a success. He eventually integrates “Smile”, the group which interested him since a long time, when the bassist left the band.

He takes at this time his definitive nickname Freddie Mercury and change the name of group by Queen. They released their first album in 1973 but success comes with their second disc who takes the fifth place of rankings. From the third disc, the group knows a real success which never leave them. All success of Queen were written by Freddie as “Bohemian rhapsody”, “Somebody to love”, “We are the champion”. They are recognized for their live performance like at “Liv Aid” of 1985, which was identified as the best performance of all the time.

In 1985, he began a solo career with the disc “Mr Bad Guy”, and three years later he released a lyrical album with his friend the soprano Montserrat Caballé.

It’s at this time, he learns his seroposivity. He decide not to speak about it until his death, November twenty forth, 1991 at the age of 45 years.
