Sandy Hook Mass Shooting

Q1. Sandy Hook mass shooting happened on 14th December 2012 in an elementary school in Connecticut in Newtown. The murderer whose name is Adam Lanza killed his mother at his house before killing  20 children aged between 5 and 6 and 6 of their guardians at the school. To do so, Lanza used a semi-automatic rifle. The crime went really fast as it happened in a "remarkably compressed  time frame" because 911 was called at 9.35am and 5 minutes later, Lanza killed himself.

Q2. Adam Lanza is a young white man who was diagnosed with a disease similar to autism, which means he was different. He also had 12 violent videogames in his bedroom, and one particularly was about a school shooting. It leads us to think that he was preparing his assault on this game. When he was young , his mother taught him how to use guns and even had the intention to offer him one at Christmas, so he already had all the stuff to do this shooting.

Q3. The other mass shooting took place in Columbine high school during April 1999. There were 15 deaths. The murderers were Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. they were depressed and mentally imbalanced . They killed themselves just after murdering the others.

Q4 The lobby mentioned in the article is the NRA which is the National Rifle Association, a lobby in favor of gun rights. We think lobbies are  an issue because they finance presidential campaigns. They are powerful and influential.

Q5. The president Obama tried to stop the sales of semi-automatic weapons and yet the two chambers of Congress didn't accept this proposition.
