First of all, what does legislation mean?

It’s the exercise of the power and function of making rule ( such as laugh ) that have the force of authority by virture of their promulgation by an official organ of a state or other organization.

So DACA ( Defered Action for Childhood Arival) which is one of the most important pieces of legislation made by Obama. Is a policy that protects around 800 000 young pepople who entered the United States unlawfully as children. This program don’t grant them official legal status or a pathway to citizenship, but it does allow them to apply for a driver’s license, social security number, and work permit.

On June 15, 2012, President Obama announced DACA. But to enter the circle of "dreamers" (the nickname of the people in the programme) they had to meet certain requirements : Applicants must have arrived in the United States before the age of 16, be under 31 years of age as of 15 June 2012, have been continuously present in the United States since 2007, and not have had a serious conviction. Applicants must also have a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree or have been enlisted in the military. In total, repealing the DACA Program could cost the U.S. over $460 billion in economic output over a decade. This country cannot afford to lose these community members; our society depends on DACA recipients. Their impact extends far beyond the economy, they are an integral part of the social fabric of the United States.

But this program was unfortunately deleted.

Indeed these protections aren’t permanent. They could stopped at any moment. End of DACA in september 2018 the preisdent Trump declared that DACA would end o March of the same year. « We can’t accept everyone who would like to come here, it’s simple as that » said Jess Sessions. This programme prevented the deportation of nearly 800,000 people who arrived illegally as children in the US. This decision had mixed consequences.
