South Africa is located on the southern tip of Africa. It has three capitals: Cape Town (the seat of Parlement/legislative capital), Pretoria administrative capital) and Bloemfontein (Judicial capital).
There are eleven official languages, 21 National Parks and ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It’s the second economy power in Africa behind Nigeria. The GDP of South Africa in 2023 is about 380 billion US dollars.
The country is one of the most populated country in the continent. The population is approximately 59 millions. The country is also one of the most advanced economy in Africa. There are multinationals like :
• Sasol is a global chemicals and energy company.
• Absa group is a commercial bank that engages in the provision of different financial services.
• Life Healthcare Group is the second largest private hospital operator in South Africa. It is also the largest black-owned hospital operator of the country.
The mining and the automotive industries run the economy of the country.
South Africa is a dominant producer of gold and platinum that holding 70% of the world share.
Tourism contributed to 10% of the economy. In 2020 the country was a destination close to 3.8 million international tourist, making it the most visited in Africa.
South Africa is famous for its spectacular landscapes and a diversity of African animals.
This is the Kruger National Park the largest wildlife sanctuary. There are 500 bird species, 100 reptiles, multiple archeological sites and a large diversity of trees and flowers.
South Africa has the highest unemployment rate on the African continent.
In 2021, the unemployment rate was almost 34%. The job market has low employment rates and higher unemployment among youth and women.
The national minimum wage is about R3500 national. (186 US dollars)
And the salary for a good quality of life is estimated at R 6570 per month. ( 350 US dollars)
But 70% of the working population earns less than that.
