While the diesel against the petrol still go, alternative energy back in the center of discussions, because of global warming. The car industry is the first concerned, indeed it represents a huge part of fuel’s consumption.
Nowadays, on the fuel’s market, there are few possibilities for the car. Besides the car companies don’t make an effort to change their fuels, apart Toyota which developed the hybrid cars. It is an auto which operates with two engines, one petrol and one electric. Both energy sources can operate in combination or alternative. It is good for the wallet, but also for the environment.
There are also others alternatives fuels which can be studied, for example biofuels, it is derived from crops, such as beets, rapeseed or sunflowers. Representing 1% of total French consumption of fuel.
LPG is a mixture of propane and butane, is one of the cleanest fuels available in France.
CNG is even more ecological and economical than LPG : 50% cheaper than gasoline for 25% of CO2 emissions and less. However, the CNG is very little available in France, especially for individuals.
Electricity has a range limited to only 100 km, electric cars offer the dual benefit of limiting noise, and not dismiss any local pollutants. But cars companies have more developed the range that what allow to browse more than 300 km, so technological change that could soon change the landscape dramatically…
Hydrogen is a clean solution because the car with this technology rejects zero emissions but simply water. Nevertheless its production is generating pollution.
