Myths and heroes

A myth can be defined as a story; it can be a belief or a tradition. A hero can be a person who is admired for his or her achievements. The American dream is the idea that the United States offer plenty of opportunities and that everyone can succeed through hard work. The American dream is a myth or a reality? We'll see in a first part if the American dream is a reality and in a second part if the American dream is a myth.

I) The American dream: a reality

The American Dream is the idea that any person living in the United States, through his work, his courage and determination can be successful. For example Martin Luther king who originally was a simple pastor but with a lot of work and determination eventually became one of the most famous characters in America.

II) The American dream: a myth

However, the American dream is not a reality for all as in effect even if a person works hard, is determined this person is not necessarily happy or she will not necessarily famous. For example Marilyn Monroe even if she was famous she was not happy with her life this is why she committed suicide.

Everyone has the potential to live a happy and successful life it takes hard work. But the fact that someone works hard does not mean it will have a happy and fulfilling life
