1) THE GENERAL SITUATION ABOUT THE TOURISM IN THAILAND

Thailand attaches great importance to the tourism industry. The country draws up tourism regulations and strengthens the management of the tourism industry. It also develops a number of preferential policies to attract foreign investment and encourage private investment. Thailand develops Sightseeing tourism, at the same time; it also focuses on developing conference tourism and shopping tourism. Such as to establish the promotion association, and to carry out a variety of activities to attract international conferences held in the country. Bangkok has become an important convention city in the world. The representatives of the convention always stay longer than that of ordinary tourists. Normally, they will consume as 3 times higher as the ordinary tourists. It is conducive to a quick increase in tourism revenues. Thai tourism commodity revenues were amounted more than $ 1.6 billion in 1990. In addition, Thailand pays a lot of attentions to the construction and management of the tourism in Thailand. The country owns advanced facilities and 5 star hotels. It owns high level service, and has a high reputation in the international arena. Thailand Oriental Hotel is one of the best tourist hotels in the world. In order to attract tourists, the hotel recently opened courses of traditional Thai culture to introduce Thai customs, religion and art.

Currently, the international tourists are mainly from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Asian tourists accounted for 70% of the total number of foreign tourists and their tourism revenue accounted for 61% of the total tourism revenue.

In order to continue on development of tourism, Thailand has proposed three measures. At first, establish the new number of hotels and resorts, and do as possible as we can to go further "service first, customers first". Try our best to reduce prices. Secondly open new attractions and tourism projects, such as opening the North adventure tourism. Thirdly, focus on promotional marketing, and increase investment on promotion and public relations. Thailand will also launch the "1996 Revisited Thailand" slogan. Thailand celebrates the 50th anniversary of the reign of King.

In recent years, the rate of economic growth in Thailand is the highest one among Southeast Asia. With the development of the Thai economy, Thailand has become an emerging source country. In 1988, the number of travel abroad reached 45 million people. And 883,000 people in 1990 and the tourists spend 854 million dollars in Thailand. In 1991, the estimated number of 100 million people abroad spends $ 1 billion dollars. According to the analysis and prediction, the Thai economy will be increased at the rate of 7% per annum growth in export. So tourism demand will continue to increase. Outbound travelers to other countries in Southeast Asia, East Asian countries and regions travel. In 1990, tourists go to Hong Kong for 883,000 people, accounting for 30% of overseas visitors to Japan accounted for 11% to mainland China, Taiwan Province and South Korea amounted to 9.7%, Singapore and Malaysia accounted for 21% and 3.3%, respectively.

In fact, before Chinese tourists "discovered" Thailand. Thailand has already been one of the first choices for overseas visitors; and tourism has always been one of the pillar industries in Thailand. Currently, Thailand's tourism industry has developed in a considerable degree of maturity. Its maturity reflects practitioners trained in the massive crowd, location and characteristics of different travel routes, a variety of travel programs, convenient shopping consumer experience and integrity the quality of the travel experience. AS far as I am considered, Thailand's tourism industry can be termed a model of global tourism country in every aspect.

Specifically, from the perspective of the travel route, located in the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok and the surrounding areas such as the Wu swallow are the first choice to learn the Thai history tour and cultural tour. Chiang Mai in the north and its surrounding areas such as Ayutthaya are the favorites of backpackers, Because of its multi-ethnic culture and perfect fusion of the scenery.

In the tourism product point of view, except traditional tourism projects remains hot, Thailand also concentrate on the emerging tourism product as the world-class level. In recent years, Thailand has become one of the main destinations of the Global Medical Travel (Medical Tourism). According to market research agency RNCOS statistics, in 2000, the total output value of the global medical tourism industry is less than ten billion U.S. dollars, and has reached $ 20 billion in 2005.
