Hello, we will talk to you about the Black Panther Party. First, we will talk about "what was the black panther party and how was it born?" Then in a second time we will explain what did this party and after we will focus about the end of the party

BLACK PANTHERS PARTY

The Black Panther Party is an African-American revolutionary movement formed in California in 1966 by Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton, who reached a national scale before his collapse because of internal tensions and actions by the State, particularly the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) (arrests and bustle of rival factions ). The organization is known for his "Free Breakfast for Children" program and the use of the term "pigs" to describe the police.

HOW WAS BORN THIS PARTY ?

The Black Panther Party is the result of the meeting of two young activists of the black cause, Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale in Oakland in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California. In October 1966, they wrote a ten-point program : the famous "Ten-Point Program,"it's a real platform for own ideological demonstration at the Black Panther Party, inspired directly concerns of the population and aims to be easily understood by the least educated. This is the birth of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. Seale became president, Newton "defense minister".

WHAT DID THIS PARTY ?

POLICE SURVEILLANCE

In January 1967, the party officially opens his first office in Oakland. The party set up a few months after his creation, patrols to monitor the actions of the police in the city. The action is intended to address the seventh point of the program: "We demand an immediate end to police brutality and the murder of black people."

WALKING ON THE CALIFORNIA ASSEMBLY

The republican deputy Dom Mulford presented a draft law to regulate the carrying of weapons in the State of California. In protest, thirty members of the Black Panthers armed met in front of the capitol of California and entered in the gallery of visitors. The image of the armed militia entering in the Assembly has toured the country.

THE COMMUNITY WORK

The party has launched a variety of community programs , initially in the Oakland area. The program who was the most popular and who had the most success is undoubtedly the " Free Breakfast for Children Program ". The Black Panthers were also offered many other free services such as clothing, lessons of political and economic , medical clinics , lessons of self-defense and first aid , transportation to prisons for family members of prisoners, a program of emergency ambulatory care, rehabilitation measures and alcohol addiction.

ELECTORAL ACTIVITIES

The Black Panther Party enters into an electoral alliance with the Peace and Freedom Party (Peace and Freedom Party), a coalition of leftist organizations which then distinguished by its opposition to the U.S. intervention in Vietnam. Despite his young age, Eldridge Cleaver who was then 34 years of PPL becomes the candidate for the presidential election of 1968.
