1) Difference of culture between French and Czechs.

Czechs:

At first Czechs seem to be suspicious and impersonal but in reality they are very welcoming.

Just few Czechs can communicate in English or French.

Czechs are not going direct to the goal. The first meeting is generally a common discussion. And after this first meeting, Czechs decide or not to do business with you.

The Czech culture is very masculine and like to talk about sport, politics, … .

Czechs like humor. And they are very sensitive of politeness. (Use “vykani” to talk with us, respect the environment…)

Czechs don’t use body language. They are very punctual, organized and well dressed.

French:

It’s good for a French negotiator to know few words in Czech.

At first it’s good to talk about basic things like for example the weather. After this we can talk about our objective.

We must avoid being crude and using an appropriate language.

It’s good to know few members about the LNH.

We are not allowed to criticize the Czech politic. So we must stay neutral when they talk about politics.

We must wait that Czechs engage at first handshake.

It’s necessary to use a visual contact with Czechs.
