Death of Whitney Houston: the scenario of a drowning in her bathtub is mentioned

The American singer and actress Whitney Houston, one of the pop artists having sold the most records, died on Saturday at 48 years-old in a Beverly Hills hotel. According to the celebrity website TMZ, first to raise the alarm, the singer would be dead by drowning in the bathtub of her room. According to police sources quoted by the website, no drug would have been found in the room, but the police officers would have discovered several empty boxes of drugs. An autopsy should be performed to determine the exact causes of the pop diva’s death.

Someone from her circle shouted for help at 3:43 p.m and when they arrived a few minutes later in the room on the fourth floor, the security staff members of the hotel were already trying to resuscitate her. Her death was pronounced shortly after.

According to CNN, it would be her partner, the R&B singer Ray-J, who would have called for assistance.

Nicknamed "The Voice", Whitney Houston has dominated the American pop and soul music scene in the 1980’s and the 1990’s, and sold 170 million of albums.

Since the early 2000’s, problems of drug addiction have earned Whitney Houston to make often the headlines of the popular press, whereas her musical niche was occupied by younger singers.

In 2010, she had to cancel a part of her European tour and being hospitalized in Paris for a respiratory infection. She was still facing her demons that brought her to make a new rehab in spring 2011. Her last public appearance went back up to Thursday, where she has been seen in front of a Hollywood nightclub disheveled and confused, according to ABC channel. She had also had an altercation with a celebrity of reality show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Her death took place on the day before of the 54th Grammy Awards, the "Oscars" of music in the United States, which must be held on Sunday on the evening in Los Angeles and which she had won six times. The organizers of the Grammys ceremony have reported on CNN that the ceremony would be maintained but it should be radically modified in order to pay tribute to Whitney Houston.
