II)Origin the Giant’s Causeway:

These spectacular formations are due to volcanic activity dating from the tertiary ago some 50 to 60 million years. This phenomenon, called prismation is due to shrinkage cracks during cooling characteristics of certain lavas, especially basalt. The columns of this type are called organs. There are approximately 40,000 juxtaposed vertical columns visible on the foreshore and cliff 28 meters high. The largest columns reach almost 12 meters high. Most are hexagonal, but some columns have four, five, seven or eight faces. The site was declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. In good weather, the Giant's Causeway worth a visit in Northern Ireland.
