II)Origin the Giant’s Causeway:

These spectacular formations are due to volcanic activity dating from the tertiary ago some 50 to 60 million years. This phenomenon, called prismation is due to shrinkage cracks during cooling characteristics of certain lavas, especially basalt. In other words, the "Giant's Causeway" resulting from the erosion of an ancient basaltic lava expelled fluid to tertiary. Thermal contraction of the lava during cooling (immediately after issuance) created fracturing hexagonal columns

III) Description the Giant’s Causeway

The columns of this type are called organs. There are approximately 40,000 juxtaposed vertical columns visible on the foreshore and cliff 28 meters high. The largest columns reach almost 12 meters high. Most are hexagonal, but some columns have four, five, seven or eight faces. The site was declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. In good weather, the Giant's Causeway worth a visit in Northern Ireland.

According to legend, two giant enemies lived on each side of the sea, one in Scotland, called Benandonner and one in Ireland, Fionn mac Cumhaill named. The Scottish giant treated his rival Irish coward until the day one, stung, told the Scottish come to fight to prove he was the strongest! But how to cross the sea? The Irish threw stones in the water to build a feasible path, a "floor" between Scotland and Ireland.
