Definition
Tennis is a racket sport that opposes either two players (we are talking about a game in singles) or four players who form two teams of two (we are talking about double play). Players use a racquet strung vertically and horizontally (entamis) at a voltage varying with the power or effect that we want to obtain.
This racket, whose materials can vary, is used to hit a rubber ball, filled with air and covered with felt. The goal of the game is to hit the ball so that the opponent can not put it back into the field, either by scoring the point by putting the opponent out of range of the ball or by forcing him to commit a foul (if his ball does not fall within the court, or if he does not pass the net).

On the occasion of this captivity at Wingfield in Norfolk County, the duke introduced to England the game of palm he practiced almost daily2.
