Part drama and part action

What’s it all about ?

Hooligans is an American-British film, directed by Lexi Alexander. And produced by Deborah Del Prete. He release on April 2004 and Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam play in this movie.

The action takes place in London, in England. Matt Buckner studied at Harvard University. He is dismissed from the university his roommate having concealed cocaine in his wardrobe. He then crossed the Atlantic to visit his sister, Shannon. In London, he meets the brother of Shannon's husband, leader of GSE's (Green Street Elite) Pete Dunham, a hooligan supporter of West Ham United. Matt fits into this group whose fraternity attracts him.

The Good

The film plunges us into the life of English hooligans.

The appearances of Cass Pennant, the famous hooligan of the late 1970s, and Frank McAvennie, former footballer of Aston Villa FC, Celtic FC and West Ham United FC.

Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam are good partners on screen

The Bad

In Germany the film was banned from broadcasting to the cinema to avoid any controversy before the 2006 World Cup.

In France, the movie was banned in the cinema for at -16 years.

It is a film with violence that can upset the sensitivity of the youngest.

Worth seeing ?

I love this movie because the scenario is fantastic, Matt becomes strong and learns to fight properly. The music “I’m forever blowing bubbles” makes us shiver and plunges us into the atmosphere of hooliganism.
