The 2020 presidential election
This presidential election will inevetably remain engraved in our memories. Three days have passed since election night and we still do not know who is going to lead the first power. The United States is more divided than ever between Democrats represented by Joe Biden, former Vice-President of Obama's administration, and Republican led by Donald Trump, the incumbent President.
Election night started on Wednesday, Novembre 3, 2020 with Trump actually defying the polls by winning several swing states as Florida and Texas which respectively gave him 29 and 38 great voters. As for the Democrats, the blue wave had not occured at first, as a matter of fact the rust belt states were all in favor of Trump giving him a little advantage. If it was only because it is a disputed election, it would not be that big of a deal, however tension started to soar when absentee ballots started to be counted. It is not the first time in the US's history that the mail-in votes system is set up, but it is indeed the first time in history that approximately 64 million ballots are casted, 24.1 millions in 2016. The risk of fraud is indeed real and is hard to avoid, it already happened in many elections, as a matter of fact in 2016 around 300 000 ballots were rejected without counting those who successfully went through the assessment. So the risk is real and Trump is upholding that the election is rigged by Democrats without any evidence though, but it is obvious that there is some kind of fraud because it's impossible on such a scale to prevent that. The question is how many votes will be fraudulous. Furthermore the election is really not one-sided so even a thousand votes could change the tendancy in some states as Georgia where Biden leads only with a thousand votes.
In addition mail-in votes are more likely to be democrat because of their fear of the covid-19 which Republicans fear less so as soon as assessors started to count these votes, all of a sudden Biden caught up to Trump especially in Michigan, Wisconsin and in the rust belt states in general.
Now Trump is gambling on justice to see if votes can be recounted in these states and to even stop the counting. In fact some states refused to accept votes that they received after the 3rd of November where some states still accepted these votes.
Wether Trump or Biden wins, this election is one of a kind !
