Spirit of the Blitz

The Blitz is the title given to the German bombing campaign on British cities during World War Two. Between 7 September 1940 and 21 May 1941 there were major aerial raids on 16 British cities.

During the nightly bombing raids on London, people took shelter in warehouse basements and underground (subway) stations where they slept on makeshift beds amid primitive conditions with no privacy and poor sanitation facilities.When people were together in shelters, there was a great solidarity between everybody.

On this picture, we can see the King George with his wife Queen Elizabeth visiting people sheltering in the underground, so we can see a great solidarity between all social classes

So, The social inequalities disappeared, everybody was equal.

2) Hitler didn’t succeed because he wanted to destroy the morale of the British people, so that they would pressure Churchill into negotiating. The Hitler’s bombing was a failure because created links between everybody and brought the nation. Encouraged by Churchill's frequent public appearances and radio speeches, the people became determined to hold out indefinitely against the Nazi onslaught. "Business as usual," could be seen everywhere written in chalk on boarded-up shop windows and means  nothing has changed

to conclude, on the contrary rather than weakening the country Hitler has reinforced it. Next, “London can take it” is a movie directed by  Humphrey Jennings, This movie is A tribute to the courage and resilience of British during the darkest days of the London Blitz.
