The triangular trade, also called Atlantic or western slave trade, slave trade is conducted through exchanges between Europe, Africa and the Americas, to ensure the distribution of black slaves in the colonies of the New World. The sixteenth to the nineteenth century, an estimated 12.5 million slaves were shipped from Africa to force America by Europeans (about 10-11 million arrived in America)
We can see here the conditions of detention of ships. Prison conditions were harsh because slaves were crammed on boats. Indeed, there were between 400 and 600 slaves on a slave ship framed by 40-45 crewmen.
