These cartoons are two representations of Mandela after his death. They have been realized by Miles who used the symbolism to convey his ideas. First we will talk about Mandela and then we will explain you the symbolism of the pictures.

Nelson Mandela was the president of South Africa. He was famous for his determination against the Apartheid. We can compare Mandela with Gandhi or Martin Luther King because they promote freedom and fight for justice too. He was brave because he has always believed in his ideas even if he was in prison.

In this first cartoon, we can see Mandela who goes to a place with clouds and a gate which is opened. Moreover three characters are waiting for Mandela. They are dead and they have promoted the freedom like him. It’s for that’s reason that this description remind me of the even.

The bras of the gate evokes me the prison where he was been on Robben island during twenty seven years.

On the second cartoon, we can see Mandela who creates a bridge between two mountains. This bridge have the appearance of a rainbow because it is the symbol of the multi racial groups.

The only thing in color in this picture is the rainbow that’s why we can think the first message of the picture is to fight the apartheid and promote the different ethnic groups.

Now, the black and white workers have just to build the bridge to eliminate the apartheid and continue mandela’s work.

To conclude, we can say Mandela has changed the world because he has eliminated the Apartheid. I think these cartoons are a really good tribute to him because they explain very well what he has fought against in his life and what he has suffered in prison.I wish this cartoon will be touched all the people and give some hope for the next.
