To illustrate the notion Myths and heroes I will show how' romantic ideas and scientific experiments gave birth to gothic litterature and movies. Some famous characters from literature have become myths and are part of the collective culture of a nation. Then some myths travel in time and space. For example, Gothic litterature wich was born in England and then developped worldwide.
The gothic fiction was born in 1764 and it's associated with romanticism. Gothic artists rejected what was rational and the were fascinated by terror, mistery and the supernatural. The main characters of gothic fiction include vampires, werewolves, monsters, ghosts and the devil.
Count dracula who is a centuries old vampire inhabits a crumbiling castle in the carpatihian mountains. he has a dark and evil soul he has a lots of power. However his powers are limited. For example he can't enter a victim's home unless he is invited, cannot cross water unless he is carried etc...

This passage is typical of gothic literature because of the magnificent and impressive setting : an imposing castle built in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of a precipice, the bolted doord which create an oppressive athmosphere. Moreover, Jonhatan is the perfect victim young naive and helpless. Then the description of Count Dracula peculiar, fascinated by blood with a strange behaviour and superbatural powers : he has no reflection in the mirror, he vanished all of sudden) creates a mysterious and gloomy athmosphere causing a feeling of uneasiness in Jonhztzn and the reader. Finally, terrifying events are feated as the imposing castle and the magnificient landscape turn out to be a prison that nobody can escape from. The reader wonders what is going to happen to Jonhatan
