Étude de l'organisation Artisans Du Monde (document en anglais)

“Artisans du monde” is a French organization created in 1974 (at the time of the independence of Bangladesh). Moreover, 60s were the time of decolonization which provides the political independence but not the economic one. That’s why, the organization tries to help countries in difficulty with economic solutions.

We have to make the difference with charity and fairness: The organization doesn’t give them money, it just buys products at a fair price (they deserve the money)  It’s fair trade.

The organization is based on 3 big ideas: selling (vente) / information – education / advocacy (plaidoyer)

Selling

“Artisans du monde” sells products from fair trade in order to help artisans/peasants/farmers to live with dignity, hope and with the money that they deserve. “Artisans du monde” ‘s products are sold only in specialized shops (fair trade represents 1% of international trade).

Information – Education

Representatives of the organization try to make people conscious that they can change things. They help them to adapt their choices of consumption (as they have done for us).

Advocacy

It consists of putting pressure on political and economic powers in order to changes the rules of international trade.

According to us

The presentation was really interesting for us. They really want to help people, to do something good. They believe in what they say and we think that thanks to us, things can change with time.
