Instant resume of the colour purple

The movie seems to be about an african american girl named celie who is in a traumatic relationship with her stepfather, Pa, who impregnates her regurlarly then gives the babies away. It initially begins with bright colours and gospel music, and moves onto Celie going into labour, after a few moments with the baby, Pa takes it and "sends it to god". They seem to work at a plant fertilizer store, and Celie escapes to sing to herself. Later on, Pa gets to meet Mista', a man who followed nettie, Celie's sister, all the way to the establishment. Mista' then negotiates with Pa and they meet an agreement of Celie being traded for a cow and eggs. The whole scene starts off mellow but becomes slightly more grim as it unfolds, and most grim when Celie gets shipped off. Within the first couple days, mista' rapes Celie, and the whole scene is very dark, adding a certain element or torture to Celies situation. the camera angle is from above, making Celie look smaller and insignificant. Nettie finds a way into the home with them, and the first thing they do is run along the road and sing, then follow the orders of their new homeowner, Mista'. One can think that Mista' is a former slave, and his childhood abuse that he endured is reflected through to how he treats the women in his life. We go forward 8 years to when Mista's oldest son, Harpo, marries a woman, Sophia, who doesnt meet the approval standards of her soon to be father in law. Harpo builds her a house, and she births his child, then becomes the head of the house. Five years on, in 1922, she beats him, and when he fights back she leaves him high and dry. Harpo turns the house into a juke joint. Later on, there's talk of a popular figure in town: Shug Avery. A "loose woman", she's coming to harpo's joint to sing. She stays over in Mista's house and when Celie walks in on her taking a bath, and while scrubbing her back she gets carried away and begins singing, but a slip on the floor brings her back to reality. They spend quite a bit of time together. They converse about Mista and Celie laughs for the first time in a long while. Shug says that her father, a pastor, never forgave her for beinga singer instead of a woman of faith. They try on lipstick and shug dances with mista, as they were lovers many years back. Mista's father visits him. He scolds him for sleeping with a "hoe". Harpo sees shug while he renovates his house into a joint and later on she sings to an excited crowd. Later on, sophia introduces celie to her new man, a boxer. Harpo and sophia reconcile and dance a little. Harpo's new girlfriend, squeak starts fighting sophia and all hell breaks loose on the opening night. Shug avery leaves to memphis and tells celie to stand up to mista. They hop in a car together and go for a ride around town and to the movies. They end up having a romantic moment and spend the night together.they end up being lovers and shug learns about nettie for the first time. Turns out, they were missionarries in africa and sought refuge after being raided by the british. Its now 1930, and Celie goes around in town with sophia and her family, into whats now the more diverse america. Within this, the mayors wife makes racist remarks to sophia and she talks back. When the mayor confronts her and slaps her, she hits back and is then mobbed by white men who beat her, while her children and husband and celie take off
