THE BIOGRAPHY OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Hello my name is Elisabeth Rolland I am in Terminale secretariat and I am going to present the biography of William Shakespeare.
The main works of this author are Romeo and Juliet and A midsummer Night’s dream in fifteen ninety – six (1596).
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy. This story tells about two young lovers the death of which reconciles their enemy families.
A midsummer night’s dream is a comedy. The story is about several characters who meet in a strange and magic forest which looks like a dream.
William Shakespeare was born on twenty-third April fifteen sixty-four (1564) on Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire at the center of England.
His mother, Mary Arden, came from a rich family and his father, John Skakespeare, was a rich merchant.
William the third of eight children, was educated at Stratford Grammar School. At the end of a few years his father had very serious financial worries. He removed him from the school to place him learning.
At the age of eighteen, William married Anne Hathaway.
In fifteen eighty-seven (1587) he went to London where he became an actor.
In fifteen ninety-two (1592), he resided in London, where he had become an actor and a playwright.
He met success and fortune and bought houses and lands in Stratford and London, traded in wheat and malts and spent several hours a day in taverns drinking with fellow bohemians, actors or authors.
In fifteen ninety nine (1599), the theater company opened a theater called “The Globe” in reference to the Hercules carries on his back.
Sixteen and one (1601), the year in which Hamlet was written, marked by a very important period for Shakespeare: the death of his father.
William Shakespeare retired from business.
He was a gentleman, a businessman and a landowner.
Shakespeare died on 23 april 1616 at 52 years old.
He is buried in Stratford in the yard of Trinity Church.
