Homework for week 3 (sorry for the late so i put in in the work 4 so you can see) :
“With which I will now requite the Knight's tale.
Our Host saw that he was drunk on ale,
u / u u u u / u /
And said, "Wait, Robin, my dear brother;
u / / u u / /
Some better man shall first tell us another.”
- The iambic pattern (da-DUM) is predominant in this paragraph (da-DUM, 10 syllables) + he uses a rhyme scheme (AABB). The regular rhythm and rhyme scheme in these lines contribute to the memorability of the text and it keeps the story engagins for the people.
- The Miller’s Tales is particularly funny cause of the charachters and the absurd situation they put themselves in. This humor keep the audience entertained. The Pardoner's Tale is entertaining to thanks to his narration and the atmosphere of surprise, with the plot twist at the end where he find a treasure.
- I prefered The Miller’s Tales because it is the funnier one, Absalom has the more powerful words for me, he wants to show he’s passionate love to alison and his desesprate attemps of declarations to her demonstrate his emotions to the listeners..
Homework for week 4 :

Here are 3 examples : - When Hamlet says "I do not set my life at a pin's fee" he is not expressing indifference to his own life, he is affirming that he values his life very little. - In "Romeo and Juliet", when Juliet says, "O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon" she is not asking Romeo not to swear by the moon, but she is expressing her desire for him to make a sincere promise. - In "Hamlet", when Hamlet say "To be, or not to be, that is the question" he is not simply thinking the concept of existence.
- Words in Shakespeare's plays have immense power. They can evoke strong emotions like in “Macbeth”. Deceptive or misleading language can lead to tragic endings for example, etc …
- Finally the elements that impact the success or failure of performatives could be : - Cultural and Historical Context:
