A) INDEFINITE ARTICLE(a/ an)

1) Before singular countable nouns:    a banana  / an orange

There is a banana in the fridge.    / There’s an orange in the fridge.

2)BEFORE AN ADJECTIVE+ NOUN( not an adjective  only)

It is a blue book / It is  a  blue .He’s a good student/ He’s a good. / It’s blue / He’s good. He’s an excellent doctor.

3) Jobs   My father is a doctor.  / My mother is an engineer. / My uncle is a vet. / My Uncle is a vet.  / My uncle is an excellent vet.  / An Englishman.  /A French girl.

B) THE DEFINITE ARTICLE ( the)

1) - SOMETHING SPECIFIC:   

The vase on the table is beautiful./ The vases in the balcony are beautiful. The orange on the table is big. / The oranges on the table are big. 

2) - SOMETHING UNIQUE:

I like the sun and the moon.  

3) – SOMETHING WE MENTION FOR THE SECOND TIME

I like animals. I've got a canary and a fish. The canary is black and the fish is multicoloured.

4)- Speaking of someone or something you see: the man over there is my uncle/ The cat there is ours. 

5) -Ordinal numbers: The first/ the second/ the third/ the fourth.... My birthday is on the fifth of May.

6) -Mountain ranges:  the Alps/ The Rockies/ The Himalayas....

7) -Some countries like: The USA/ The Netherlands/ The UK/ The Philippines...

8) – Rivers: The Nile/ the Seine/ the Thames/ the Mississippi River/ the Missouri River...

9- Superlatives: the best / the tallest/ the strongest/ the most beautiful...

C) ZERO  ARTICLE
