1) Do you think bullying is a problem in your country ?
The bullying is a problem in many countries and France isn't an exception. we can observate 4 types of bullying/harassment:
- Physical harassment:
It is a repetitive bodily violence that often manifests itself in organized fights, robberies, jostling, racketeering or even damage to personal items.
- Moral harassment:
It is an abusive behavior that is characterized by insulting words, humiliations, false rumors, discriminations, repeated degrading behaviors. These practices can cause psychological disorders endangering the health of the victim. However, it is less easy to detect because it is more discreet than physical harassment.
- Sexual harassment:
It takes different forms like devaluing words, touching, which can lead to rape by forcing the victims by insistence, orders, moral and / or physical pressure or blackmail.
- Cyber Harassment:
It usually happens on social networks. Abusers feel secure behind their screens. Stalkers post humiliating photos or videos to the victim. It is defined as an "aggressive, intentional act perpetrated by one or more individuals through the means of repeated electronic communication form against a victim.
So, like in many countrie, the france is the place of the lot of bullying situation : at work, at shool and in the street and it takes many forms and touches more and more people everyday.
2) What can you do to challenge it ?
There are several solutions to fight against harassment. First of all, we have to educate the population, from an early age. That is to say carry out awareness campaigns in schools, workplaces and in the media. For this we must be able to bring poignant testimonials aimed at reaching as many people as possible.
Then it would be necessary to increase the punishments towards the stalkers in order to make sure that it does not start again and that it prevents to give the idea to others to do it in their turn.
That said, the punishment itself is not enough, we must also make sure that they understand that what they are doing is wrong. It is therefore necessary to explain the how of the why to these people, that they put themselves in the place of their victims as much as possible.
These solutions must be applied in the long term if we want to judge their effectiveness.
3) Would you defend someone who is being bullied ?
I will obviously come to the aid of a person whose harassment I witnessed. But how to help it as efficiently as possible? I will try to explain it .
To effectively help a person who is harassed or under control, first, make sure that person is really under control. In some cases, it makes sense, but often, it's totally invisible, things getting slowly worse, this process can take place over several years, it is always imperative to return to the starting point and evaluate the evolution of the situation ...
several signs are revealing:
The person changes his behavior: his speech is no longer the same, his habits either, she criticizes things that she appreciated before, acts against her moral principles, her values, her habits ...
The person changes his style of clothing, physically neglects himself: ceases to take care of his appearance.
The person becomes isolated: she sees fewer and fewer people outside the circle of the manipulator, if it is identified, stops its outdoor activities, even if she adored them ... See less and less friends, his family...
