Into the wild

Today I’m going to speak about the notion spaces and exchanges.

But first of all, I would like to give a definition of the terms. This notion deals with the geographical and areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. The different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have shaped and characterized our modern-day world.

In order to illustrate this notion I have chosen to talk about what do people look for when they’re leave their countries to live in another one?. In this case I’m going to use as documents stracts of a movie saw in class “into the wild” directed by Sean penn (which is base on a true story) especially about the main character of Chris.

To answer this question firstly I’m going to talk about what is Chris looking for in his new life and seconde of all if he’s satisfied when he achieved his goal.

I- I choose a scene from the “into the wild” movie where Chris is having dinner with his family at his graduation day. In these scene his dad and mom tried to give him a new car as present because regarding to them his car was “old”. Chris reaction was a clear example of what according to him, was wrong with the society. He didn't understood the consumerist society or the system in such he lived on. He also though his parents didn’t understand him and he didn’t comprehend why his parents were together if they fight all the time and there wasn’t love between them, like a fake relationship. Chris was sick of not belonging to this strange world so he decide to leave all behind without telling anyone to start fresh in another city with new people. He wanted to live in the wild with nothing and to provide food by himself, without all the rules and stereotypes that society puts on us . And that’s what he looked for when he decided go in this trip that changes his life.

Il- I choose another part from the movie that I thought it was important to understand the character where Chris is nearly dying from poison and he starts crying for his mom, cause in the end he didn’t want to die alone in the wild.

in all the movie we can think that Chris is satisfied with his new life because he finally lived in the nature but I think, sadly, Christopher McCandless went Into The Wild to discover what is summed up in his famous quote “happiness is only real when shared”… something he found out far too late. He went all that way to discover that something is only really worth experiencing if you can share it with someone else.

Conclusion: to conclu we can say that when people leave their countries to live in another one is because they want a change, they want to leave their comfort zone. But sometimes, like in Chris’s case, we need to be away from home to really appreciate and understand what we have in life and maybe then we can be really happy with what we have.
