I will introduce the concept :

We talk about of Myth and heros.

What is a myth ?

A traditional a legendary story, usually concerning some being a hero event with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, especially one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practise, rite, or phenomen of nature.

• A myth is an imaginary story which speaks about creek gods. It looks like a legend wich gives hopes and dreams.

What is a hero ?

A person typically a man, who is admired for his brave and noble qualities. A hero is regarded as a model. In classical mythology : A person with extraordinary strengh and courage. A person of superhuman qualities and often semi devine origin, in particular one whose exploits were the subject of ancient greet myths.

In the first part, we will talk with the hero Vince Papale, and then in the second part we will talk about an anti-hero who talks about Ben Johnson.

Vince Papale from Philadelphia. He lost his teaching job and his wife left him. He is only happy when he plays football with his friends.

The recording is about the héroe life of Vince Papale, a professional americain footballer who is the main character of a film called Invincible.

The Invincible movie is a sports drama, since he was diagnosed with cancer of the colon.

The film is about sports but has message of hope and ‘ go for your dreams ‘

The poem written by Mick Gowar speak about Ben Johnson.

A teenager meets his idol, an ex-champion who is now in hospital. The poem is supposed to be a dialogue between the two characters, but in fact it is more like a kind of monologue because we never actually hear the boy’s voice. The man tells him about his career and about the sacrifices he had to make in order to become a champion.

Ben Johnson used to be a runner who is at hospital now.

The man is called a hero because he won a gold medal in the Olympics when he was 23. But he had taken drugs so he had cheated to get that medal.

In conclusion, I think Vince Papale is a hero Ben Johnson because in addition to live your dreams without taking drugs, he fought against the disease.
