Idea of progress : What are the impacts and especially the solutions of climate change?

I am going to talk about the idea of progress. The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change. It can be a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. To illustrate my notion, I will talk about climate smart.

Climate smart is a hot topic that creates many debates. Many people think that climate smart is the same as climate change, but climate smart is the solution that improves climate change, while climate change is worldwide weather phenomena associated with an increase in global average temperatures. Whenever we hear of climate change, the first thing that comes to our mind is global warming. In fact, global warming is the cause of climate change.

What are the impacts and especially the solutions of climate change?

First, climate change has an impact on the environment. Since many years, countries have become aware of the Amazon collapses. The rainforest and the population are in great danger. The oceans are getting warmer and warmer and the sea levels are rising rapidly. The icecap is melting too, and the ozone layer has widened in the past years. The Greenland is melting, and polar bears are now an endangered species. Little by little some species disappear, and it affects our daily lives.

Climate change also has an impact on people. They are lots of environmental refugees in our countries. They have lost everything because they are without any resources to survive. Little by little some places become inhabitable and the desert is gaining ground. Without water nothing can grow, and people can’t feed themselves. On the other hand, because of droughts, tsunamis or earthquakes, some people die. Each country has to face major climate issues such as pollution or nuclear leaks but not all of them have taken the same measures to improve environmental measures.

How should we deal with all these impacts?

Different solutions have been put in place to reduce this climate change and thus the greenhouse gases. Indeed, Cop 21 was founded to limit global warming to 2°C. More associations was founded, WWF for example, and these associations organize demonstration around the world. Movies was shot to denounce climate smart and its impacts on the planet. Celebrities such as Leonardo are committed in the fight against global warming, they make speeches and their words have a universal reach. Other more mundane actions have been put in place, such as waste sorting, carpooling, public transport and many more.

To conclude, climate smart has an real impact on the planet and changes must be made now. Many solutions have been put in place, unfortunately some countries like poor countries can’t have access to them. However, these are not sufficient to stop climate change. Scientists still have to study the case of climate smart for the coming years.

I think that global warming is really happening and that this is not something to be taken lightly, we must continue to look for a way to stop global warming and save the planet.
