First it is very commone but to have biographie in littératur We can wonder to what extent autobiographies are a reflection of the truth ?

To illustrate this thematic, I’ve chosen to present 2 exctract ;

Borne in the fouth of july by john kovic, this autobiography is st in the 60’s and relate a soldier’s journey to vietnam and his return home in a wheelchair. it tells the historical facts of the war. Publishin 1976

And theseconde is Narrative of William Wells Brown a fugitive slave written in1847 a story of fugitive slaves published in the United States before the American Civil War. Brown recounts the experience of her slave life and the vicissitudes of her flight to the north and freedom

In my first part, I will focus on the tone used by the authors and the effect triggered in the reader

William wells brown mentions a narrative written by himself to convince the readers he is trustworthy should betruster and hence the story should be belived. He want to highlight the fact that what he writes isaccurate since he is writting it. It is based on his memories. And in the born on the fourth of july ron kovic feels helpless defenseless . IT looks like hell andchaos, bullet are being shot constlantly and the soldier around him are being shot at one after the other ; and use repetitions which add to feelings of fear panic fright dizziness misunderstanding

in my second part i will focus on the feeling by the authors and the effect in the reader

This text shows us the horror of the slavery in the USA. Indeed he writes about the « blood clotted cow-hide » and descibes us how he feels sick and weak « iwas seized with a fever, which threatened to confine me to my bed ». He also describes us the luck he had to find Wels Brown « He was a devoted friend of the slave … they made me some clothing and the old man purchased me a pair of boots »

With this book he want to show to his lector tha fact that a slave can write a great book has a white and smart man. Indeed his book was published in 1847 a little bit before the slavery abolishment in 1865

Whit the fact that he wwrites his autobiogrphy he can prouved to himself he is smart man.he also gain a identity indeed if he can write a book he is more than an object us by white man « The fact that i was a freeman could walk talk eat and sleep as a man all this made me feel thet not myself
