                        Who are the Amish ?

The Amish are a community who have a special and strange way of life : they want to isolate their community from the outside world. Indeed they practice a religion which forbids the modern life, so they can’t use the new technology like smartphone, TV, ...

This religion is based on a blueprint which named “Ordung” and which guide the Amish in all the details of the everyday life :furthermore, it’s a form of protestantism.

There are 240 000, and they live specially in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania : finally, they speak a German dialect, or English.

        This community is most composed of farmers who product their food like :

• goat and sheep for milk, cheese,...
• chicken, duck, turkeys
• tobacco
• ...

        They sell their products to other persons on the side of road, in markets : so, they must go to the modern world to earn money. They also go to market to do their shopping, and other…

        This community is hardship a based-gender society, in which the women has smaller power than the man.
