For the first document I am going to present to you is The Circle, a film starring well known actors such as Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, this film was out in summer 2017, this movie talks about invasion in privacy set in the near future and the danger of social networking. In this movie, the main character is a girl named Mae and she is set to work at The Circle, she is then presented to be the first person to equip herself with the company’s brand new camera called SeeChange which captures live footage of what it sees. So the idea here is that this camera broadcasts to everyone in the world LIVE through an app, she wears this little camera attached to her shirt all the time except when she needs a little a bit of privacy. In this film, tons of fans worldwide come to see her daily LIVE show so she has literally no privacy, people even watch her sleep which is extremely disturbing. In this film we can see the evolution of Mae, she started up as a student and is now the most renowned person in the world, she has no more secrets to keep. But that’s not all, this thing she got herself into broke a lot of relationships, she ended her friendship with her supposed best friend (the one who actually got her the job for this company). In this film we are also given a suicide due to another invention called the SoulSearch which is a program that can locate anybody in under 10 minutes, so the crowd wants her to locate Mercer which is her friend, after locating him some fans come attacking him non physically but completely deprive him from privacy by flying drones everywhere, he starts running away from all those crazed fans, enters his car and drives off but in the end they keep pursuing him and he finishes by killing himself by driving directly off of a bridge. This film truly depicts the loss of privacy which they are subject of and implements that invasion privacy is no joke and should be taken with carefulness in the future, but also shows that this fame also shows your true self.
For the second document I am going to talk about the video Selfie, this video was made in 2014, it was made by Matthew Frost and features celebrity Kirsten Dunst, this is an aspirational video talking about the negative impact of social media in our behaviour. So in the opening scene we are introduced to Kirsten calling an Uber. When she got outside and waited for her Uber to arrive, we can see behind her in the middle ground a woman walking her dog but also looking at her phone at the same time, she clearly doesn’t pay attention to the road (she is literally in the middle of the road) and her surrounding. Then we see a car driving down the road that suddenly stopping at the sight of the celebrity, we see two teenage girls coming out of their car and taking their phone out and with no respect takes a bunch of pictures of themselves with Kirsten Dunst without even asking for her approval. After this little photoshoot, Dunst asks some simple questions such as “So do you wanna talk or anything?” but they follow up by answering these questions by saying “cool” which is absolutely not an appropriate answer. They go back to their car and slams the door, they don’t even say “thank you” or anything at all. In the end credit scene, we can hear them say “We’re gonna get some many random followers that we don’t even know”, this means that all they care about are followers and fame. This video depicts the change in our behaviour because
