Student Engagement Has a Negative Impact on Success
Nowadays, students want to make their place in the world. That is why they try so hard to have a part-time job while they study. However, it raises the question about whether or not it could affect negatively their study life. Although, this topic may be very controversial, it is well known that having a part time job lowers dramatically the grades of students. That is why students should focus on their learning process instead of trying to earn an insignificant amount of money, as it is time consuming, it drains the energy these young adults and it can be an incentive to drop out of school.
First, being successful as a student requires time and efforts. The main concern of any student should be to have enough time to achieve the best results that they can produce. That is why devoting numerous hours to a part-time job may not be the best idea if they want to succeed. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that 20 hours of work every week affects negatively the grades of scholars, as it keeps them away from their studies for an extended amount of time[1].
Dedicating time to a part-time job might help the millennials gather a certain financial comfort, but it also has the potential to cause exhaustion when the amount of working time is unreasonable.
Earning small amounts of money allows students to have a certain liberty. They can buy and own goods for the first time, it makes some of them turn away from school and focus mostly on work.
